  1. Awesome list! Though I must say Salmon Fishing in Yemen is really forgettable, McGregor and Blunt are very cute but the film itself was really boring. I can't wait for so many of those, especially Rust and Bone, looks like its going to be really great, moving film.

    1. @Sati: Thanks! Looks like my release schedule here will keep me busy ( :
I've noticed mixed reviews for Salmon Fishing in Yemen, quite a lot of 7/10's for it, I'll probably rent the dvd

    2. I actually really like "Salmon Fishing in Yemen". I too thought it would have been really boring but to me it's not. It's just dry and British humor which is not for everyone. I was really surprised how good I thought it was.

    3. @Shala: hmm, I didn't like Salmon Fishing in Yemen as much as you did, I mean it had a few memorable scenes, overall I don't think I'd recommend it to people. Glad you enjoyed it, anyway :)

  2. Great post. There's so many interesting projects coming out in the coming months. As a fan, I love that you included The Swell Season. Also, I really enjoyed Woody Allen: A Documentary and Moonrise Kingdom.

    1. @Josh: Thanks man, and I agree, lots to look forward to! I've read there is a longer version of the Woody Allen: A Documentary, the shorter version might be a mistake to go for...I don't know, hope I can see the longer cut.

I have no clue why they aren't selling The Swell Season documentary dvd on region 2 amazon.co.uk, because the band is Irish/Czech. Maybe there is a fanbase in the US!

  3. Really interesting list - love the mix of the big blockbuster and smaller films as well as a good amount of documentaries.

Shame Safety Not Guaranteed doesn't look like it's getting a release here. Was really looking forward to that one.

    1. @Jaina: You're welcome, and thanks for saying so! I like to mix up my movie watching

Safety Not Guaranteed deserved a better fate, judging from reviews perhaps one of the best things from this years Sundance festival. Hopefully get to see it on dvd eventually, if they won't release it in cinemas!

  4. I really enjoyed Beasts of the Southern Wild and Moonrise Kingdom.

I have some pretty big reservations about On the Road, but I will be seeing it since it's an adaptation of quite possibly my favorite book of all time. I just wish it had *anyone* other than Garrett Hedlund and Kristen Stewart.

    1. @Eric: I'm also a bit sceptical about "On the Road" because of the mixed reviews on rotten tomatoes. Your favorite book, wow, I haven't read the novel, I guess I ought to, sooner or later

  5. Yay for "Ruby Sparks"! I really like that one as it is not your average every-day rom com. It goes much deeper than that.

I just saw "Seven Psychopaths", "Perks of Being a Wallflower" and "The Place Beyond the Pines" at TIFF and they were great (http://tmblr.co/ZEFnbwT9jzVr)

I don't really watch documentaries but I may see the "Imposter". There was a feature film made about the same case that was recently released called "The Chameleon". I saw and thought it was decent. It would be interesting for someone to compare the feature and the doc.

I have mixed feelings about "Sound of My Voice" but it is an interesting film to watch.

    1. @Shala: Will check out your festival coverage over at Life Between films. That's promising news about the titles you mention! I'll head over to your site soon.

I didn't know about The Chameleon, thanks for the info.I may skip Sound of My Voice, mostly noticing lukewarm reactions.

It would make it so much easier if there was a joint release all over the world, but I guess it has to do with promoting each film, and the stars can only be in one place at a time!
