In the sun – she & him
(She is so cute in that video, I don’t really like their other songs, her vocal in this one is great)

Mr. Peterson - Perfume Genius
(While I’m not gay, his songs are still powerful to me. His fragile vocals I think are similar to the acoustic singer-songwriter Daniel Johnston)

Readers, any thoughts on this week's music?
I see there's She & Him in your playlist :) I had an absolute fond of the band last year. Sometimes their songs are too classic, but that's their thing.
ReplyDelete@Andina: I like In the sun, such an uplifting tune and soothing vocal, some of their other tracks I find her voice a bit whiny. I see you dig Zooey Deschanel, you are lucky she is involved in both movies and music then ( :
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought She & Him's latest album ... what's your verdict on it? Is it worth downloading the whole thing or just this one song? I love Zooey Deschanel's voice. Her cover of "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" on "Vol. 1" blew me away. I listen to it all the time when I'm in a churchy mood.
ReplyDelete@M. Carter at the Movies: I probably don't like Zooey Deschanel's voice as much as you do, so I'm unsure if you should listen to my verdict. In the sun is a definite highlight, the rest of the album was a bit whiny in my opinion. I haven't heard vol 1, so I'll check out "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot", thanks ( :
ReplyDeleteWow, I kind of wrote off She and Him a long time ago since all their songs sounded the same. But I really like this one you posted.
ReplyDeleteI like her first as Summer, then discovered her band in 500 days of summer's soundtrack. Then I searched her other songs and thought it's unique :)
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is still reading this thread, I tried the She & Him album again, a few other decent tracks from vol 2 are in my opinion: I'm Gonna Make It Better, Sing, If You Can't Sleep
