Nice list. I think you hit most of the essentials. I'm also partial to "Warning Sign" which inspired the name of my blog. :D
ReplyDeleteEric @ The Warning Sign: Thanks. Really, have to give ”Warning Sign” a re-listen today. Each time I googled ”warning sign” I always got a Coldplay song :)
DeleteMy favorite song is "Psycho Killer" as I just love that song as well as "Burning Down the House", "Once in a Lifetime", and "Road to Nowhere". They're a great band. It's a shame they won't reunite because David Byrne has no interest in doing reunions.
ReplyDelete@thevoid99: Those are great songs you mention, which are all in my top 10, hust in a different order. A shame they won’t reunite, I guess nothing lasts forever.
DeleteNo shock from me, but I'd include "Crosseyed and Painless" without hesitation. Some of your also-rans would be on my list, too. I might also include "Papa Legba" off True Stories and "Pulled Up" from '77.
ReplyDelete@SJHoneywell: I know you rate Remain in Light very highly, so no surprise you would include Crosseyed And Painless on your best list.
DeleteInteresting couple of also-rans you mention, I don't have any from True Stories, Papa Legba is pretty good, I think my pick from that album would be Love For Sale.
I like the guitar play on Pulled Up, thanks for sharing.
I've always just listened to This Must Be The Place from hearing it in Lars and the Real Girl. Now I'm going to check out these songs too - a great place to start. Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDelete@Katy Rochelle: I had forgotten This Must Be The Place was used in Lars and The Real Girl, I always associate that tune from Oliver Stone’s Wallstreet (1987). Happy my top 10 has inspired you to listen to Talking Heads. You’re welcome :)
DeleteGreat list! I have always really liked This Must Be the Place!
ReplyDelete@jjames 36: Thanks! This Must Be The Place is a great track
