Life of Pi looks really promising, I'm going to see it soon. Love this clip, a great mix of Coldplay's song Paradise, and breathtaking visuals:
Have you seen Life of Pi? Where would you rank the film among 2012 releases...Best? Average? Worst?
Have to say, I rolled my eyes when I saw the trailer with Coldplay's Paradise attached to it. There's something about that song which just gets under my skin. In the bad way!
ReplyDeleteSaying that, I am planning on seeing the film when it's finally released here.
I did! Last weekend. What a treat. Just posted my review. I'm interested to know your opinion about it.
ReplyDelete@Andina: Once I've seen Life of Pi, I'll let you know what I think. I love the clip I shared of flying fish, very uplifting with Coldplay song, in my opinion.
DeleteI watched the movie because I heard the song in the trailer ;)
Delete@Jaina: Will be interesting to see which I prefer: The Hobbit, or Life of Pi. I've read the Hobbit is overlong, and Life of Pi a bit shallow and predictable. Both should be worth it for the visuals, though.
ReplyDeleteI've already seen Life of Pi and it's definitely something to see.
ReplyDeleteLove those clips but I fucking can't stand Coldplay. They're a third-rate Oasis with a bit of fourth-rate Radiohead, and a 2nd-rate U2 w/ even lamer lyrics.
@thevoid99: Well the Coldplay song worked in the context of that scene, for me, anyway. I'm not a huge Coldplay fan, I just like a few songs by them. I agree the band do sound a bit too much like U2 sometimes.
DeleteGlad you enjoyed the movie at least.
I didn't love the Coldplay song, but I didn't dislike it either. The video is very cool! Thanks for sharing it, Chris. I haven't seen the movie -- I'm still on the fence about whether to watch this one.
ReplyDelete@Quirky BookandFilmBuff: Happy you enjoyed the clip! I think Life of Pi is a film that your future self may regret missing on the big screen.
DeleteI enjoyed the movie, but I also don't like Coldplay. While it won't make my top 10 of the year list, I definitely recommend it for the visuals and the scenes between Pi and the tiger.
ReplyDelete@Josh: A good deal of people here who don't care for Coldplay (mentally making a note not to blog about that band).
DeleteOk, not in your top 10, I look forward to what is, then. Pi and the tiger is the best stuff, it certainly looks great from the trailer.
By far the best film of this year.
ReplyDelete@Lights Camera Reaction: By far the best of the year. Wow, that's quite an endorsement right there!
DeleteI was really pleasantly surprised by how good it is! Didn't expect to like it so much. It really is stunning and sits just outside my top 10 of the year.
ReplyDelete@Pete Turner: Looking forward to Life of Pi, looks stunning from the clip
DeleteLife of Pi is fantastic,I can call it Ang Lee’s most beautiful film and definitely one of the most gorgeous films in the last decade,it is also one of the best films I’ve ever watched about religion and faith.
ReplyDeleteHere is my review: http://www.tasteofcinema.com/2012/life-of-pi-reviews/
@David: I'll read your review, when I've seen Life of Pi. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
DeleteI know I'm in the minority here, but I found Life of Pi to be underwhelming. Curious to hear your thoughts on it, Chris.
ReplyDelete@Eric: It's been that kind of year, a number of films have divided audiences: Holy Motors, Life of Pi, Beasts of the Southern Wind, Holy Motors, The Master, Amour, Silver Lining Playbook
