I am really looking forward to that Air album as well. Didn't know the Shins had a new LP coming out. Should be interesting to see what direction they take.

Nothing majorly exciting me yet but have a feeling the Grimes album may be a keeper.

@Eric: I'm a huge fan of Air too, can't wait. I always mix up in my head Sufjan Stevens and The Shins, hopefully Port of Morrow is as interesting as the album artwork ( :

@Burning Reels: Maybe the best music will come from unknowns ( : Grimes are a bit hit and miss with me, a few of their tracks I can't stop listening to- I shared those on my top dream pop songs list.

Fiona Apple is finally doing new album? I thought this day will never come.

@Sati: The long delay suggests Fiona Apple similar to Extraordinary Machine era, again has an impasse with the record label. According to wikipedia, she's finished the new songs, so now we need a release date. Or maybe some day she will leak the songs herself. Stay hopeful ( :

Wow February looks to be an amazing month. Can't wait to hear the new Air, The Cranberries, and School of Seven Bells.

With you for Of Montreal, Cohen and The Shins for sure! Need to check some of these bands out, I'm a bit out of the new scene, have been listening to a lot of country lately heh : -)

@Bonjour Tristesse: Yes, lots of stuff to look forward to in February.

@Anna: Hope my list can help you find some new music. Talking of country, check out this in my opinion cool movie-related track: Eastwood (Feat. Clint Eastwood) - Brad Paisley

I only recognize Air, Cranberries and Soko. They all seem interesting! I want hear the new Soko songs, maybe it will get maturer? I don't know. Great list, Chris!

Seems like I have a bit different taste than you (I do like The Shins), but I'll definitely take a listen to your look forward to's. I'm anticipating Dr. Dog-Be The Void, Delta Spirit-Self Titled, The Killers, Mumford and Sons, The Avett Brothers, Pearl Jam, Frightened Rabbit, The Mars Volta, Muse, Queens Of The Stone Age and
U2.

Chris said...

@Patrick: Yeah, I think you are more of a rock music guy than me. Thanks a lot for sharing your anticipated albums, I didn't know Pearl Jam are putting out a new LP in late 2012, and the rumoured U2 album is a must-listen (ps the Achtung Baby U2 cover album from 2011 was pretty good and could be your taste)
