  1. Thanks for the tips! Enjoying Mitchell/Hamer and Phoenix already and will definitely check out the Daughn Gibson record; love that track!

Do you like the new Vampire Weekend song, "Diane Young"? I can't wait for the album.

    1. @Alex Ramon: No problem! Daughn Gibson’s new album is out in July, his 2012 album was one of my favorites of last year.

I remember you loved Vampire Weekend’s previous LP. The two early tracks-thanks for reminding me-just gave them a listen, not sure how I feel yet. Looking forward to that album too.

  2. I actually prefer Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix to Bankrupt!, but I like the new album overall. I need to revisit it, though.

"Get Lucky" is awesome! Looking forward to the new album.

    1. @Josh: I haven’t listened to Phoenix’ older albums in ages, maybe I will soon, thanks for reminding me. Get Lucky is getting a lot of love, bodes well for the new album.

  3. I too prefer Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix as well but I do like Bankrupt! a lot. I'm anxious for the new Daft Punk. Vampire Weekend not so much. I could never get into them. I find them to be overrated.

    1. @thevoid99: I have trouble comparing the two Phoenix albums, been a while since I revisited their old material. Another one who is excited for Daft Punk, I hope it can live up to expectations. I liked a few tracks on Contra (2010), so interested to see what Vampire Weekend do next.

  4. Phoenix's new album seems promising. I didn't know it was out. I love Entertainment track.

And Vampire Weekend's track sounds as cute as their previous songs.

    2. I've listened to some new tracks, it sounds okay. What do you think?

    3. @Andina: I really like the song Never Wanted Your Love. I’ve only listen to the album once, overall, I think She & Him Vol 3 is decent, just weaker than Vol 1 and Vol 2.

  5. Still not sure what to make of the new Phoenix album. It sounds a lot like their last record, but I need to give it a few more listens.

Also, not sure if you are a fan, but Boards of Canada just announced a new album for next month! I am so excited for this.

    1. @Eric: I would agree that "Trying To Cool" sounds like something the band did previously. Still early days, we'll see if new Phoenix album remains in my top 10 by the end of the year.

I know of Boards of Canada, just haven't delved into their work as of yet. Thanks for the tip!

  6. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say I was quite disappointed by the latest Phoenix and Daft Punk albums. I think their previous work is a lot stronger. I found both of them rather unremarkable and without stand-out tracks.

    1. @niels85: I haven't listened to the old Daft Punk records, so can't compare. I quite liked Random Access Memories-and is in my top 15 LPs of the year so far.
Phoenix is a band I like, and I was okay with the latest album, which is in my top 20. I guess it takes a lot to impress you!

  7. Bankrupt was pretty good. I haven't listened to their previous albums, just a few songs. Love Entertainment and Trying To Be Cool and the new wave/danceable sound.

I didn't think that I would like the Major Lazer album this much. Not a big fan of their previous work, but this one did it for me.
Favorites: Get Free, Scare Me, Jessica.

The Daft Punk album is incredible. Love the Pharell/Nile Rodgers track. It's certainly something unique. They brought disco back.

The Vampire Weekend album disappointed me. I love Step but the other tracks didn't do much for me. Shame, because I liked Contra a lot. Maybe it needs a relisten.

    1. @Cristi B: Bankrupt by Phoenix I really liked too. Today, I would also add ”Bourgeois” to that list of key tracks.

Unfortunately Major Lazer I didn’t enjoy, apart from the single ”Get Free”. I’ll give those tracks you mention another chance.

Agree about Vampire Weekend and Daft Punk
