I think it took most viewers out of their comfort zone. The last third of the film was definitely weird with a capital W. When you've seen as many films as I have, you can become desensitized towards the formulaic Hollywood stories, so watching something unique is exciting and inspiring to me.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395044055566348346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-66509252018941578372017-10-30T09:43:01.797-07:002017-10-30T09:43:01.797-07:00@Alex Withrow: Thanks, Lynch saved the best episod...@Alex Withrow: Thanks, Lynch saved the best episode for last!

The things revealed in Tales of the Grim Sleeper could have been explained in less than 105 min, easily. Not really a horror and not a psychological thriller either - I didn't even get the allegory in full until I came home and read the reviews (always make a point of going in cold as don't want to be predisposed to thinking about a film in a certain way before I watch it). I am very much looking forward to seeing Mother! Less excited about the new Blade Runner, but that's because I'm not all gaga over the original. The fact that all these prequels to 2049 exist is bothersome to me, actually. I think a movie must be good as a self-contained unit. Whether or not I like a full-length feature shouldn't depend on a series of shorts. Hopefully, it won't.Dellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05634519605152190304noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-76559309638327909032017-10-09T10:10:42.708-07:002017-10-09T10:10:42.708-07:00@TheVern: Yes, Mother! had the boldness to be orig...@TheVern: Yes, Mother! had the boldness to be original and divisive. But I wouldn’t go so far as to say the film endorses violence, as Ned’s wife gives him a long, disapproving stare, and ’The 'Schofield Kid' on the mission obviously reveals how he feels about killing. So there is a case to be made that Eastwood shows both sides, not just the violent angle.
