It will be interesting to see which direction Season 2 goes in. An image of the kids wearing Ghostbuster costumes has already surfaced. Eleven certainly is a memorable character. I think she’ll be back in a smaller role.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395044055566348346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-59177524179517509882017-02-18T09:06:07.721-08:002017-02-18T09:06:07.721-08:00@Mark: Thanks for your thoughts on these. I like Sylvester and his sense of humor, although I am unable to compare the various doctors.

I rated Mum 7/10 which I consider a good score. Yes, I’m a Mike Leigh fan too. The series is definitely similar to Leigh. There was a lot to like and a bunch of solid performances. Peter Mullan was almost unrecognizable, I knew him from Tyrannosaur (2011). Perhaps they’ll be a Mum season 2 with the main characters returning, I’d watch that. However I do feel the comedy was not very subtle.

You have a point about Tubbs. Starsky and Hutch I'm unfamiliar with.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395044055566348346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-66002366304144665362017-02-18T08:58:36.248-08:002017-02-18T08:58:36.248-08:00@Alyson: Stranger Things is worth seeing, especial...@Alyson: Stranger Things is worth seeing, especially if you like 80s pop culture.
I haven’t seen The Sopranos. Yes, tragic news of Gandolfini’s passing, far too young. I know him mainly from his film work. I especially like his likeable performance in Enough Said (2013).
Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395044055566348346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-21905600773714904632017-02-18T05:24:35.807-08:002017-02-18T05:24:35.807-08:00I'm looking forward to Stranger Things 2. It was my era; being 9 years old when it went out. I still have fond memories of it and still love the Robert Fuest/Avengers/Prisoner stylings of this particular story. And yes, it was all a veiled attack on how the BBC were actively destroying the show at the time.

Sorry you found Mum flawed. I loved it. Do you watch any Mike Leigh films? I'm a huge fan of Leigh, and Mum was clearly influenced by his work. I didn't find the characters caricatures or one dimensional myself, I think worryingly there's a great deal of people who are like that and TV doesn't usually depict them.

Tubbs' undercover status in Miami Vice always amused me - especially given that he was supposed to be a former football star - wouldn't people have recognised him from his sporting career? Like Starsky and Hutch's undercover work being destroyed by the big distinctive tomato they drove around in, these things seldom bear scrutiny!Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14569732807130090838noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-6239243828865238892017-02-18T03:15:01.972-08:002017-02-18T03:15:01.972-08:00Thanks for the heads up about Stranger Things as m...Thanks for the heads up about Stranger Things as missed out it - Seems to be universally enjoyed however so will source it out.

Been too busy blogging for much telly watching of late but did watch the final season of Mad Men over the festive break and liked how it ended in a satisfactory manner in that all the loose ends were tied up! Hate when they don't do that as with The Sopranos and now that James Gandolfini is dead there will never be any more - Sad loss to the acting world.Alysonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15671033552961486737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-65712458028858388752017-02-18T00:19:05.760-08:002017-02-18T00:19:05.760-08:00@Stephanie: Nice to hear from you again! Style over substance worked in this case, because it was so entertaining.
I can see how it could be relatable. I was a child of the 80s although by the time I was 9 it was the 90s!
Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395044055566348346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-58937220627677050702017-02-18T00:17:02.718-08:002017-02-18T00:17:02.718-08:00@thepunktheory: Stranger Things I binge-watched as...@thepunktheory: Stranger Things I binge-watched as well, excellent, addictive TV. I didn't mind the "style over substance" aspect of the series, as I felt it was woven in seamlessly. It was also fun for people, like me, who came of age in the early 80s. :-) Great post!Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02426349195171316268noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-14145576579780651292017-02-17T15:29:52.925-08:002017-02-17T15:29:52.925-08:00I loved Stranger Things, couldn't help but bin...I loved Stranger Things, couldn't help but binge-watch the season.(http://wp.me/p2DYTl-Gm)
Black Adder is one of my favourite British shows.
