The story just felt too similar to Alien and such films, which is why my score is not higher. I think that's why the film is so beloved. Sometimes being first makes an impression. The Thing is a remake, but the 1980s was not known for films like that. When looking at films from the 70s, those films were always much more psychological (which I actually prefer). So 'The Thing' and 'Halloween' represented a shift in the genre. <br /><br />I know we disagree on 'Sicario' which I thought was brilliant. 'They Live' is one of my favorite films.
