Hannibal gets criticized for not having the Clarice-Lecter chemistry of the original, but I don't want to watch the exact same movie again, so I think Ridley Scott's film got treated unfairly. Hans Zimmer score for Hannibal I thought was the best thing about it, and worth looking up.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395044055566348346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-87095722177019918562012-10-27T04:21:37.533-07:002012-10-27T04:21:37.533-07:00@Pete: I agree with everything you say! They have a mutual respect I think, despite Clarice knowing his past. I think Lecter would never attack her, and I think she knows that too.
Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395044055566348346noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-41978452567667033562012-10-27T04:09:12.109-07:002012-10-27T04:09:12.109-07:00@Ruth: Thanks a lot, glad you liked and agreed wit...@Ruth: Thanks a lot, glad you liked and agreed with the review!
Probably best that Lecter just stays up there on the screen, wouldn't want him running around in my neighbourhood :) He is both fascinating and repulsive. Love every moment of him in the film. Basically all the characters are amazing and the climax with Lecter's escape and Starling's dark meeting with Bill are just some of the tensest stuff I've ever seen. I just loved Jodie Foster and saw it was on and thought I would go. I didn't sleep in my apartment (I lived alone at the time) for four subsequent nights. The only other horror film that has scared me this much was Blair Witch Project. This is SUCH a brilliant film. I saw this movie when I was a kid, it terrified me but I couldn't stop watching. What fascinated me was Hannibal Lecter's character and how he and Foster actually felt close though they have different class in society. Nice choice for Halloween!Andinahttp://www.inspired-ground.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1619249406686227577.post-76519124975785283072012-10-25T18:55:06.743-07:002012-10-25T18:55:06.743-07:00Brilliant, brilliant review! I love especially the way you describe Lecter as a walking contradiction - you wouldn't want to be alone with him, though in contrast to every other villain in the film, you would rather have a conversation with him - and you could too, if you were polite, and able to converse on topics such as art and culture!
