What song is this?

For the last few weeks, a lyric has been stuck in my head. Goes like this:

"We are your sons and daugh-ters, mas-ters of none"

Or at least that's how I remember the words. I think it's possibly the chorus to an 80s hit. I've tried googling to no avail. Beginning to annoy me!

Any ideas who the band are?

  1. Sounds like a line from a folkie-type song. Billy Bragg maybe?

    1. @FurryBootsCityBoy: Good try, Billy Bragg does have a song called Ingrid Bergman with "sons and daughters" in the lyrics. I just listened, unfortunately it isn't the tune I was looking for.

  2. I wish I could help but I can't! How frustrating. Please let us know if you find out what it is and perhaps post the song.

  4. Hmm - Not ringing a bell but it does get really frustrating when even after hours of googling you still can't work it out. Some day you'll be listening to the radio and it will just pop up - sooner than later hopefully.

    1. @Alyson: I only spent 5 min googling to be honest. As you say, probably will find it by accident when I’m not looking.

  5. I've no idea about the 'masters of none' bit, but the opening reminds me pf Let The River Run by Carly Simon.

    1. @Rol: Close, but no cigar. The half-remembered lyrics could be the root of the problem. If it's any help, I can hum the chorus:
"Da-da da-da da da da, da da, da da"

    1. @thevoid99: Probably an 80s pop song. Not very much to go by.
