Best songs of 1980 (part 2) (heavy metal)

80s Thursday continues! 1980 was a crazy good year for heavy metal, many classic metal albums and songs were released. This post is not exhaustive, as it's impossible to include everything from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Hopefully I've found the best stuff. AC/DC is for another day, when I do rock. Enjoy the music!

Breaking the Law (my favorite song by the band, very catchy)

  1. OH!!!!! You got the creme de la creme of metal. British Steel, Iron Maiden's first album (still one of my favorites), Ace of Spades (R.I.P. Phil "Animal" Taylor), Women and Children First, Heaven and Hell, and Blizzard of Ozz. Those are some of the best fucking albums.... ever......

    1. @thevoid99: I tried to include the important metal albums from 1980, although there are also lots of second tier bands of merit as well. What a fantastic era for heavy metal!

  2. Back in my military days, I had a roommate who was a hardcore metalhead. He had most of these albums. I for sure remember listening to Iron Maiden on more than one occasion. Good stuff. To be honest, though, I'm more familiar with mid to late 80s metal which he had lots of (it was barely 1990, after all).

    1. @Wendell: I’m not a metalhead, in fact I only got into it the last two years. The speed at which these metal bands play still astounds me. There’s a lot of metal to explore from the 80s.

  3. Think my Monday afternoon lull in work will be powered by some 80s metal - it's been a very long time since I listened to some Van Halen or Black Sabbath!

    1. @Jaina: Power away :) If you like 80s metal, this post should give entertainment. Not my favorite Van Halen album, however "And the Cradle Will Rock" and "Everybody Wants Some!!" are excellent tracks
