2013 music I'm listening to

Enough of that summer music, back to the moody stuff :)

You're My Dream - PROUD (Only God Forgives soundtrack)

Solomon - Rick Smith (Trance Soundtrack)

Your Friends Ain't Gonna Leave With You - Cliff Martinez (Spring Breakers soundtrack)

You've Got Time - Regina Spektor

Bad Kingdom – Moderat (the music video is unwatchable)

Zeitgeist - Black Sabbath

Away From This World - Sheryl Crow

Retrograde – James Blake

Any thoughts on the selections? Which are your favorites from these albums?

  1. I could never get into James Blake. He's just not my thing. I do love the soundtracks for Trance and Only God Forgives.

I'm mixed on the new Black Sabbath album. I like the heaviness but I feel like it's not enough as it's not a true Sabbath album because Bill Ward isn't there. It doesn't have his swinging power that the original band is known for. Without Ward, it's not Black Sabbath.

    1. @thevoid99: I think it was you who recommended me the Trance soundtrack, so thanks again.
Not really familiar with Black Sabbath’s discography, but I found that particular ballad quite haunting, it reminds me of Black by Pearl Jam. Not as great as Pearl Jam’s track, but “Zeitgeist” will probably move into my top 100 tracks of 2013.

  2. I love the Spring Breakers soundtrack. That's my kind of music. Digging the Only God Forgives and Trance tracks.

  3. Listening to Only God Forgives ost now. Nice. I might feature it on the next OST pick.

  4. @Andina: Nice. I actually found the Only God Forgives score overall a bit unmemorable, but I love that track by PROUD I shared.

  5. Hi Chris! Nice that a lot of what you're listening to are soundtracks. That's one of my fave music genres of all time, I think at least half of my CD collections (when I used to buy 'em) are soundtracks :D

    1. @Ruth: Only God Forgives soundtrack has an Asian influence that could appeal to you. The movie takes place in Bangkok, though I’ve heard is very violent, so I didn't go and see it.
Didn't know you owned so many soundtracks :)

    1. @Michaƫl Parent: In this post, I'm showing appreciation for individual tracks, not the entirety of the albums.

Sabbath's 13 I mainly loved for that track I shared. Anyway, glad you dug the album!

    1. Eric @ The Warning Sign: I really like Bad Kingdom from new album.
I still need to listen to their previous work. The only track I was familar with was 2009's "A new error"-which I love.
