Guest post: Top 10 Daft Punk Songs

I present to you a guest post by Steven from Surrender to the Void, who kindly compiled what he thinks are the very best tracks from Daft Punk's career. I was only familiar with the new album Random Access Memories (2013), so fun to listen to the older stuff too.

10. Lose Yourself to Dance
9. Alive
8. Revolution 909
7. Harder, Faster, Better, Stronger
6. Give Life Back to Music
5. Digital Love
4. Get Lucky
3. Da Funk
2. One More Time
1. Around the World

Readers, as usual, thoughts are very welcome in the comments!

  1. My favourite would have to be Harder, Faster, Better, Stronger. But the video may have something to do with that too.

    1. @Keith: Don't know the video, I'll have to take a look

  2. If you need any help on artists that you're not familiar w/ and need a primer. I can help you. Besides, the Guardian's primer on NIN sucked. I can do a way better job than that hack who sounds more like a casual newbie rather than someone like me who is a total hardcore NIN fan.

    1. @thevoid99: If you want to do a guest post with Top 10 songs by Nine Inch Nails, that would be great! Maybe to coincide with the release of the new album in September.
If you want, I could plug your review of Hesitation Marks (2013) and/or introduction to the band in that post.

  3. Ok, I can retrieve my NIN20 projects that I did in 2009 and re-post them on my music blog. It also includes a beginner's guide to NIN. I'm still unsure about whether or not to write new reviews of the band's work from 1989-2002 as it's going to take a lot of time to really do something about the albums, singles, and EPs from that era.

    1. @thevoid99: beginner's guide to NIN sounds good to me! For the guest post, maybe you could write a bit of text for each track in your Top 10(since you know so much about Nine Inch Nails)

    1. @Ruth: I still haven't seen TRON LEGACY or Tron from the 80s, I think I'll wait and listen to the score during the movie.

  7. That's a good list. I'm still not sure where I would place tracks from the new album yet, but overall I think it ranks among their best work. I would probably include "Aerodynamic" and "Voyager", but I can't fault these selections.

    1. Eric @ The Warning Sign: The new album had grown on me quite a bit.
I'm not familar with Daft Punk's full discography, so I'll certainly give "Aerodynamic" and "Voyager a listen, thanks for the extra tracks.

  8. Great list. It would be hard for me to pick 10, but my favorite would probably be a track from their TRON: Legacy score. Maybe "Derezzed" or "Recognizer".

    1. @Josh: I'll give those Daft Punk selections a listen, thanks. Ruth at Flixchatter has been trying to convince me to listen to Tron Legacy soundtrack. I might watch both the old and new Tron movies some time in 2013, since I haven't seen either of them yet.
